Publication tools
ISM uses publication tools to document the relation between process and organization. These tools are organized by ISM standards. The tools contain the process model and is specified down to activity level. The organization’s method of working is determined by documenting the relations between the activities form the process model and the functions and staff. ISM templates are used to derive the corresponding procedures and work instructions.
The determined approaches can be used by the organization to communicate about the method of working. This information is made available through an intranet, which enables staff to easily access information that they need in order to perform their jobs.
ISM can be supported by any suitable publication tool. However, some tool vendors have become ISM partners. This means that they offer a tool which is ready for use, which means an efficient and cost effective implementation. The simple structure of the process model means that ISM can also be easily implemented with other publication tools.
