The aim of the Operations management process is to plan, coordinate and implement all activities relating to the information system, and to monitor the results.

Those activities include maintenance (back-up, cleaning, defragmenting) as well as dealing with service requests, reset actions, and implementing changes.

The process describes how all routine tasks should be recorded (e.g., in annual, monthly or daily schedules), how all non-routine work, such as modifications, are added to the schedules, and how the schedules should be implemented.

The process describes how elements should be set out in a monitoring plan. It also specifies the monitoring method and the procedure for reporting incidents and exceeded limit values.
